Wow-what a trip. It was a rush and a blast. Technically, everything went about as well as could have been expected, and I felt great about how I performed.
My character, who has been bounced around throughout the play, actually dies at the end and doesn't stand with the rest of the cast for a bow. However, the whole cast followed the performance with 15 minutes of improv, and at the beginning of that, the director asked me to come forward and take a special bow-I got some whistles and extra cheers, which was immensely gratifying. Later, cast & crew met at a nearby pub for drinks & celebration and I had this amazing feeling of accomplishment, peace, and definitely some relief. A feeling I recall now from my acting of years ago, but that I had forgotten.
The director is hoping to do some organization & fundraising this summer before launching into a full-fledged (full-length, regular practice scheduled) drama this fall: Waiting for Lefty. It would actually involve auditions and have a much more rigorous practice schedule, presumably resulting in a much more polished show with a much larger audience. Man, I had a good time acting again-I think my future artistic involvement may sort of jump from acting venture to musical venture & back & forth, but probably rarely a concerted effort on both fronts at the same time.
On a side note, the performance was videotaped, I believe, if anyone would like a copy.

Very, very cool.
I will watch, but do not care to own a tape of the performance - add that to our urban adventure schedule.
That'd work.
For what it's worth, a DVD burner & VCR to DVD kit may be in my near future.
I to would love to watch you spectacular performance. Like Mixdorf, I don't need a copy of it on tape. I think that making an urban movie would be in order in July. I was taken over by the dark side in recent days. Sorry for the drama on the blog. I have deleted it if you have not noticed. However, I would like to have a small, clam, and relaxed conversation with Dan. There is a small issue that tends to send my thinking to the dark side now and again. I would like to resolve it. I do have the biggest balls around, and I will not become a Gibbons and hide my issues.
How does your character die? Are you flushed down the toilet? :)
They chop off my head.
Call whenever you wish-preferably when I'm at home.
I was at the show and Dan was superb. I have seen my share of plays and Dans performance was up there with the pros. I look forward to the next one...Shawn G.
Holy Shit! An interloper! I'll take care of him, guys...
Seriously, though, thanks for the kind words.
There is an additional comment on the previous post. Thank you, and shop again!
Glad to hear the show went well, sorry we couldn't attend. I would love to see the recording sometime.
Since my comment was buried under another post, I will bring it up to this one.
You can't go out and say that your comment was better than anyone elses without looking like a goof. Your comment WAS very clever. However, I missed the sign-up sheet for the clever comment contest. :) You sir, are a wisenhiemer.
I agree. There's nothing lamer than describing your own remark as clever. Nearly grounds for an Ass-Kicking.
Maybe nearly is too generous for a man who almost never gets one? Maybe this is over the line for him, but not over the line for Gibbs or myself? It's like gradeing everyone on the same scale. We should be grading them on their own abilities. You wouldn't want Lucy to be graded according to someone elses standards. Just a thought. Might fit better on the other blog.
You bring up good points, but I think he may have passed the Statute of Limitations. Ass-Kicking decrees should be spontaneous immediate, at least following when the larger group hears of the offense.
Oh, he'll get his.
