We're supposed to get a call from the pet doctors to talk about tests Rocky was undergoing to detect feline peritonitis. Suddenly, however, we're optimistic. The son of a gun has showed remarkable improvement over the weekend, getting all feisty, lovable, and generally full of piss-and-vinegar, once again. We're wondering if it's possible he had some sort of viral thing - maybe in his inner ear, maybe even in his spine(?). But we'll see what they say tomorrow.
And we now have hot water. And showers are glorious.
And I'm taking tomorrow off. Totally off. Sharon has an appointment in the afternoon, so I'll be hanging out with Rosie, but in the morning I'm thinking about heading over to Columbia Heights to bust out 1,000 layups.
Word.

Sweet!
...upon further reflection...
Assuming I can find a 2/3 size court, free of snow & ice, that makes 60 feet for a layup. For simplicity's sake, we'll say no additional distance to get rebounds, etc. So - 60,000 ft for 1,000 layups. 10 miles. Certainly do-able, at various points of me being in shape, but maybe not today.
I will see how many layups I can do in an hour or, if the spirit so moves me, maybe just work on my shooting & dribbling, both of which aren't where I wish they were in my later 30s.
Also - I'm going to listen to the 2nd half of Abbey Road in the coffee shop before I head over.
I'm loving this plan.
The second half of Abbey Road could, in fact, be part of the "putting things in perpective" soundtrack you need. I'm hoping you are not overthinking the lay-up plan; just do it, as they once said back in simpler times.
Use a medicine ball instead of a basketball.
A proper, hot shower has to help lift spirits as well.
It was perfect. The "2nd half" was ending, just as I pulled up to the court at Mississippi Blvd in Fridley. Pat M & T-Clog, you know the one...it was the site where the famous "General" incident took place.
Unfortunately, the court was in disrepair. I ended up heading back into my own 'hood and shooting at Webber Park. I did a bunch of layups, and a bunch of free throws. And a bunch of just shooting around. Like simpler times. It was nice.
And Aaron - yes, it was a right proper hot shower.
