In Other News...

Tomorrow is the day when I find out if I still have a job. Having gone through a "voluntary" round of job reductions, my company now has determined that they need to take that next step - and we've all been waiting about a month and a half for this day of gloom.

Even if stay on, many others will have their employment involuntarily terminated - it's going to be awful.

Ugh.

May the force be with you.

Thanks, man. Tomorrow night may be a night of relief or a night of anxiety (and relief?). But it will be a freaky morgue here for the next few weeks, in any event - since the to-be-terminated employees are being asked to stay for a month, if possible.

Day of the Living Dead realized!

The horror is too much. I hope that only greatness follows whatever happens to you and the others.

If it's worth anything, I am sharing in this dread (or possible relief) in some way by following what you write.

Ooof. Nothing makes me want to work harder than a shiv in the back.

Man, the more I think about it the worse that time will be. At least the last batch volunteered - now you've got people being laid off...a month from now. That is shitty for everyone.

I suppose it helps extend your income out an extra month, but still.

I suspect mines will be laid, of various sorts.

Stephen - thanks.
Pat - worth considering, though, that our severence, if it comes to that, is about the best in the biz. For people in my position, I would get 6 months pay (after that month) in a lump check (plus vacation pay), and 12 months of full benefits. So that would/will take some of the edge off. That said, if we had wanted to take our chances out there, we would have taken the voluntary buyout...
