Simple. Elegant. I like it.

What's his stand on wolves?

What's he running for, again?

PatMix: Oldo wants to put heating coils in the Brandywine to keep it from freezing over, so in the winter they don't have to worry about Wolves crossing it.

Stephen: Shiriff.

I'm not sure that the GDP of all the hobbit lands will make that a justifiable expense.

Plus, they're about 10 centuries behind technologically, and they killed off the only person that could probably do it.

I think they're going to have to find another solution.

What century are you living in? This is the 4th Age, m'boy!

Pat said...

4th age or not. It's 1000 years before 'heating coils' are showing up on the scene, particularly amongst a group so fond of pipeweed.

Now the dwarves may have the technology sooner, but they're a notoriously private folk and not concerned with the lives of halflings.

I gotta read those Hobbit books....

Then fences. Fences on the other side of the Brandywine.

I did not honestly think I'd get questioned about the age of technology from which the bit was conceived.

But we are still in the 4th age, for what it's worth, beeyatch.

I wasn't calling you on that, but you don't really KNOW that this is still the 4th Age, do you? One makes that assumption at their own peril. If your entire line of reasoning is that this is the Age of Men then that's a pretty weak argument.

While the appendices stretch on for a while, they leave out most of recent recorded history, limiting their viability in determining this question.

Could be the 5th, 6th, 7th etc....

And to Stephen - welcome to Nerd World.

And back to Dan - I just followed from your answer about what to do with wolves and you went out of character and into deep water with that whole heating coil line of thinking. I just set up to snap you abcck into place.

Pat: Yeah, hmmm, maybe I'll hold off on the books for a bit!
