Lucy, taking on four-and seven-year old sisters in a game of giant chess during the first half of a recent daddy-daughter day. Parental intervention called the game a draw, when both ranks were decimated to one King and one bishop.

Very good stuff.
Yup. She seems to be loving chess, although the advice I got from the coaches at the chess program has made playing with her a little more challenging. I'm not supposed to go easy on her but - instead - tell her exactly what I'm doing and why I'm doing it and - most importantly - make sure she doesn't take her hand off her piece until she is sure it is safe.
I'm still going to be kicking her ass for awhile yet, which I don't think will be as much fun for her.
Lucy shrunk or that is one large chess set. It is cool that you are teaching her how to play the game. Good for you man!
Thanks. Trying to expose her to lots of things; this happens to be one where she has more than a passing interest.
Organized sports: not so much, so far.
