Happy Valentine's Day

It doesn't get any better than that (except for Rose, who looks as though she may have seen better times).

Very nice.

As an outside observer Rose seems to have a wry smile on her face as opposed to any sort of consternation.

Get some clothes on that other girl - it's winter.

Look at the brow: consternation.

On the other girl. She's going through a phase where the most she will wear is underwear. We don't even keep our house all that warm. Sharon & I are going around in two layers, and Lucy refuses to put on any clothes. I'm always telling her, "I don't get it, Loo. Your daddy's so cold."

The little girl is wheeling a lot of power in refusing to do what you ask of her.

There is something facinating about kids. They don't react to temperature like we do. At school, I see kids running out of the building at the end of the day will a little spring jacket wide open and no hat or gloves. The outside temperature today is -25 with the windchill.

Blows my mind!

I can only assume that their temperature regulator isn't fully functioning or that their nervous system isn't fully functional. Or both.

You see kids in the ocean around here at times that would make a grown man (me) cry.

Who says she's not doing what I ask of her?

You wrote: "Sharon & I are going around in two layers, and Lucy refuses to put on any clothes."

I assume that you have asked her to but clothes on many times.

Not trying to question anything, just typing my initial thought.

Assumptions, eh?

No, more like, "JEEEZ, Loo. I can't believe you're not cold! Sure you don't want some pants on or something?"

If I ever flat out tell her to do something, the expectation won't go away. She'll do it (if sometimes, eventually). But I try to reserve those demands for things that matter.
