The City in my Blood?

Just talking with Mixdorf about a seemingly recent upswing in violent crime in North Minneapolis. On the surface, it definitely seems like just another of the many compelling reasons to high-tail it to Zephyr Valley.

On the other hand, I wonder if despite my oft repeated claim that I am "not a big city person," if I have actually slowly become one through the years. In addition to (and perhaps as a result of) celebrating it's wonderful and diverse offerings, do I actually feel obligated to stand with it through its assorted challenges? There's something that ties me here, and it's not just the opportunities to indulge my newfound cultural elitist fancies. It;s something more under the surface. I must sit and scratch awhile.

I believe that we all are a little bit of this and a little bit of that. I believe, however, that you are more of a country person that a city one. I think that you can adapt and thrive in many environments, but the ones that make your soul the happiest are those inwhich nature provides you. I think if you lived in Zepher and visited big cities, you would not even miss the hustle and bustle all that much.

That definitely has been my thought through the years, but man-just recently-I have this feeling-very akin to why you start getting so mad at the elves for running off to the woods & undying lands and turning their backs on the world of men. Am I abandoning the world of men? Also: they have theater & music & art & I'm sure some diversity of thought in the Winona area, but is it a cold, pale comparison to the Twin Cities that I would regret?

That is the battle that you will have to endure. It will be an ordeal for you and your family to weigh the positives and minuses.
